What good is complaining going to do for you? Where is it going to get you in life? Is it going to further your career? Your happiness? If you need to vent, that's one thing. But to offer nothing but complaints about something that's making you unhappy -- whether it be work related or relationship related or whatever -- is a worthless venture. It'll never prove fruitful. You'll be left with nothing but anger and resentment. You'll take it out on those you love. They don't deserve it. After all, you only have yourself to blame. If things aren't the way they should be, change them. If your job is making you unhappy, get a new one. If your lady is bringing you down, let her know. If she doesn't care, leave her. If your man is a scumbag, kick his ass to the curb and put yourself on the market. Your happiness is too important. You must not compromise it. Life is entirely too short to make such a mistake. You're not guaranteed another shot after this. The fact is you have a life now. That much is for sure. Don't waste it.
And don't make excuses, either. Because nobody cares. Yes, I'm well aware of the recession. But don't let that be your reason for not trying to get a better job. It's not a reason. It's an excuse. Look for a new job. Cater your resume toward a new career and move forward with your life. Never move backwards. Never be stagnant. Everyday is a blessing. Remember that. You had a shitty day yesterday? Who cares? I certainly don't. Make today better. How can you improve yourself and your surroundings to ensure that today is better than yesterday? Some people learn the hard way. Some people never learn. And making mistakes is simply a part of life. It's what you do afterward that defines you.
Take this advice with you. Take these words and live by them. Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional. Don't be a victim.

Hell yeah that's some real shit yo!
ReplyDeleteAre you talking to yourself? Fuck. How sad. Well shit, nobody else wants to make a comment. Might as well.
ReplyDeletePreach.
ReplyDeleteIll comment on this CJ! I agree with what you are saying. Many find themselves stuck in a rut because of their inability to deal with change. I like your option for pain but it takes a tough skin to actually do it. Embrace pain and the suffering that goes along. Eventually that pain will subside and something else will take its place. Persistency and being able to adapt to change will carry you through any difficult time.
ReplyDeleteI love John Wooden. A favorite quote of his I try to live by each day is "things turn out best for the people who make the best of the way things turn out". You cant control things that are out of your control so focus on the things you can control. Like your attitude!
I appreciate the comment greatly. I've always been a fan of Coach Wooden as well. What an amazing human being. You're droppin' some knowledge in your reply and that's why I love when people make comments on the website: It adds more positive ways of looking at things. We all have different perspectives because we all come from different backgrounds; whether it be different parenting backgrounds, different moral and religious backgrounds, different political backgrounds or regional backgrounds, etc.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for your words of wisdom.
